This site has been set up by me, Jelle Hieminga, to serve a dual purpose:
1. To keep everybody informed of what I'm doing while in Florida
2. As a 'storage area' for material that should be on my other site 'A Little VC10derness' but which I cannot add to that location as I cannot access the server without incurring major costs.
What are you doing in Florida?
Well, I am a student with the KLM Flight Academy. This school will provide me with a complete training towards an ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot's Licence) with which I (hopefully) will be able to find a job flying for an airline. I have completed the first year of the course which is all theoretical, and have just started on the second year, the first five months of which we will be spending here in Ft. Pierce, Florida, to learn to fly the Piper Archer and Arrow. As I don't expect many people to pay me a visit while I am here I decided to set up this website to give others a chance to keep track of what I'm doing.
What is this other site 'A Little VC10derness' about?
It is a site that is dedicated to the Vickers VC10, a lovely airliner of the 60's that was a success both in a technical sense and where passenger appeal is concerned but which never got over it's political and economical problems. Several VC10s still fly with the RAF but they too will be phased out in the coming years and to keep the memory of this lovely aircraft alive I have set up the website 'A Little VC10derness'. Have a look at the site, you can find it at: http://www.VC10.net. While I am in Florida I will be unable to access the server on which A Little VC10derness resides but I can get to this server so to be able to incorporate updates from time to time I will post new material on this site in 'The Florida Section' of the site.
But who are you?
If you want to learn some more about me, have a look at my other site as I have a page on there about my Personal History (feel free to have a look around my other site before you return). It tells you a bit more about my background, but you can also stay on this site, I guess the stories here will also tell you something about me.
