Week 10

Thursday, 11 April 2002

Well, not really a summary, more an apology. I've been neglecting the English section a bit lately and I promise you that I will do my best to get this all sorted out sometime next week. I've been too busy over the last couple of weeks to keep everything up to date. I've done my best on the Dutch section but even that is behind.

Tomorrow morning I will fly my pre-final check for the VFR section of the course, and on saturday I will do the final check. After that I will move on to the Piper Arrow and start on the IFR flying. Hopefully I will have some more free time soon!

Allright, let's start with some photo's:

Launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis on Manday

Some rain as seen from the airplane, Opa Locka Airport, a landing Cessna on Marco Island, and the airfield itself (with the city in the background)

Allright, what did I do this week: on Tuesday I did two flights, one with my instructor to practice all the maneuvres and landings, and the second with my instructor again when it turned out that my landings needed more work. On Wednesday I flew my last long cross-country flight to Opa Locka Airport and Marco Island. On Thursday I flew another solo flight but this one was local, again to practice maneuvres and landings, and they went well today!

This got me ready for the pre-final checkflight which I was supposed to do on Friday, but on that day there were very low clouds and rain. After delaying a bit we (me and Chris Haber) flew half of the flight, leaving the navigation for another day as the weather didn't allow this. So on Saturday I flew the second bit with Jonas Mullins and passed this part as well. In the afternoon I went to see the movie 'Changing Lanes' which was pretty good I thought.

Sunday was my day off as by now I had flown for six consecutive days again. In the afternoon I joined Melanie and Barber to see 'Lord of the Rings', in one word: wonderful!
