Does 150 still have its Vickers Armstrong badges on the yokes?

The RAF did remove, more recently, the RWR from the tail but the housing is still there so you can't tell from the casual look....

Yes I was amazed to see them still firmly attached to the yokes, just hope the souvenir hunters don't come looking for them......must be the only 10 that still has them I would guess??

Can anyone at Dunsfold confirm this?

Andy

ZA150 does not have the badges installed unfortunately.

That is a shame :(

Wonder if Gary @GJD could rustle some up for her?? I guess they are all gone by now.

That's good to hear! The yokes were definitively empty when ZA150 was delivered.

I think I read somewhere (may have been Tonks) that some yoke badges were auctioned off before the last few flights. I'm sure he'll be along to confirm or deny this.

I'd be making sure that 148's badges are firmly held in place!

I can assure you they are under a watchful eye and rightly so, wouldn't want them to go walkies :(

Years and years ago you used to able to order the badges through the RAF stores system, but that source long since dried up, you could also get the Silver foil RR badges that used to be on the C1 nacelles.

Yes, I noticed that too at the time.

IIRC three or four badges were auctioned at the 101 Squadron dinner in June 2012 at Brooklands. I'll check later tonight as I've got a list from that auction. Those were all from airframes that had already been sent to Bruntingthorpe by then. At the farewell dinner after the final operational flight (20 September) another auction was held and more badges were indeed auctioned, but I don't know how many and from which airframes. One item in that auction was a complete yoke with badge.

So.... If I said ...... "dinners off" ......would you know what I meant. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ =D> :-D

The badges are being watched very closely.....no one goes on the flightdeck or indeed, anywhere else without a guide.

There were indeed several badges auctioned off at the Brooklands Dinner (2) and at the final dinner (2 Yokes with badges fitted and one may be two separate)... sadly well outside my funds. The Yokes went for £12-1500 and the badges around £900 each!!!

I have a yoke but sadly no badge so I want to try and make one for it... I have the design for the vickers badge underneath but need to find away of making the perspex bit???
