New Corgi model due in the shops soon (Feb 2009)

I just received an e-mail from Corgi stating that they will be releasing the VC10K.2 Tanker model next week. Details at corgi here: http://www.corgi.co.uk/CorgiSite/pages/ ... ctlg=Corgi

Corgi has had problems with their first 1:144 VC10 model and because of this had to rethink their tooling and printing. Let's hope that this model has solved those issues!

A pity that the probe is the wrong colour and the nose gear doors appear to have drooped open.... I'm not sure that the tail code letter is the right size either.

Just in time for the 25th anniversary of 101 Sqn's reformation with the VC10 tanker, eh Tonks? Has anything been planned to celebrate this milestone?

The photos I linked to are from pre-production versions of the Corgi models and may not be representative of the finished article. Also these were produced before the retooling that was ordered after the first Corgi VC10 hit the market so I'm expecting the newer models to look better than that.

Apparently the BA model (G-ARVM) is also available in the shops now, I guess I missed that announcement. That just leaves the BOAC G-ARVA version and sources tell me it is due in three months. My local supplier hasn't got ZA140 or G-ARVM yet so I cannot get any photos of the improved models.

Got mine today, and it is not too bad... a few things are slightly wrong, and the centreline hose tunnel is painted on and not part of the model (which is a shame)... looks ok and is better than the C1!

A welcome visit from UPS this morning, delivering a largish box.

From photos of the C1 I had my doubts about the cockpit area but now that they've painted the windows on I think the overall shape looks pretty good. As Tonks mentions there are some small issues, the centreline hose, the freight hold door on the wrong side and a funny window in the forward door. Still it is a very nice model to look at. The other model is G-ARVM and that is very nice too. A bit shiny (I doubt that they were ever that clean in service) but there are fewer mistakes to point out, mostly because of a lack of detailing (the freight hold doors are not printed) but they don't distract from the overall impression.

The G-ARVM model is now available for orders from Corgi, see here.

Got my G-ARVA model yesterday. I noticed the pax doors (at least this one has doors!) on the model are the same size as the RHS service doors. I also think, at first glance, the engine nacelles are upside down, I will check them on my engineering drawings when my shift finishes and I get a few days off.
