VC10 collectors models

Post by postman patt »

I travelled on a few VC10's in the early 1970's as a young boy. Does anyone out there know a good UK website where you can buy good quality models of VC10's ? and not to expensive! --+0+--

A lot depends on how much you want to spend and what scale you want. There are numerous 1/400th models available and you can get them in just about any scheme you want... check eBay for starters.

There are some great 1/200th scale ones as well... eBay or you can try:

Airspotter.com here

eztoys here

or

or clevelandsdiecast.co.uk here.

Just the first three I found on google...

I have one of the JC models, a K2 tanker and it is nice and I have loads of the 1/400th ones from various places... all nice.

If you want bigger than that thenNice Airplanes will make you one in any livery you want... they are really lovely models... the JP5 and the Nimrod that are on their site where made for me and I have a Jetstream and VC10 C1k from them that are lovely.

After that there are Travel Agents models if you can get one but they are chuffing expensive when they come up...

Hope that helps:

Corgi do 1/144 scale models too. They are very nice. Need to search the web for better prices for them though.

Like this:

They also do different liveries in that same scale

Indeed... I forgot those! The later ones are better, look at the cockpit moulding to see whether there is a gap (as the plastic cockpit area runs into the metal body) or not. The C1K is like that and doesn't look very good were as the K2 is a solid cockpit and looks much better. They are a nice size though!

Mine has a very slight gap (I have the one of 107 as a medivac in the grey/white/blue livery. Personally I don't have any interest in the K2/3/4 models as my Grandfather only flew C1K's!

Oh, and if you're lucky, airfix kits appear on ebay from time to time in 1/144 scale.

There's not much to add, but you might find a few tips on this page as well (not all the models on the page are still for sale though): http://www.vc10.net/Misc/vc10_models.html
Buttons . . . check. Dials . . . check. Switches . . . check. Little
colored lights . . . check.
