interior vc10,s -bits n pieces
Thanks for your email- will send discs as soon as i get a mo-didnt mention-ive also got roof mounted vhf arial and access panel off the tail in BA red at the mo,but i can still see traces of royal blue and gold from the boac speedbird.As i believe VM was a back up aircraft for the concorde fleet in her last few years in BA service has anyone got a pic of her interior at that time as i ve heard she had first class seating through out the cabin.I also flew on Nigeria airways vc10,s-I was in Lagos when the Nigeria Airways vc10 crashed..Ive often wondered if anyone has ever visited the crash site since or the crash site at the end of the runway at Addis where the EAA VC10 crashed or dawson field for that matter.Does anybody know if Gulf Air or Air Mallawi,ghana airways made any interior decor changes to there aircraft,bulk heads ect..any pics available.Ive always thought it would be great to save an airframe or maybe a forward section of the airframe from the RAF when 5H-MOG retires as she was the last vc10 made and put her back in EAA colours by a group of 10 enthusiasts,I have made some enquires.Does anyone know what BAe did with all the seating,interiors of the tens which took part in the tanker conversion,i know at Brize they keep a huge room full of seats from the scrapped tens...wonder what happend to VM,s seats when she flew to Cosford..great website. mark.

I was on the VC10 Storage flight at RAF Abingdon. If I remember correctly the aircraft had no seats on board when they arrived, but the internal trim was still fitted as were the galleys etc.

went to the airshow at abbingdon in 1985,wet on board GASG-M the raf had put a full set of RAF style rear facing seats in..just for the air show i think. Mark

from what i can remember about the ba tens they were mothballed at prestwick after the airline tried to save on costs.exercise crusader 80 saw a massive airlift of troops and gear to the then west germany to gauge requirements for any any attacks from the eastern bloc.it was then the largest movement on troops by air since ww2.anyway those tens at prestwick were put back into service to make up the shortfall in other transport fleets.the aircraft came to bzn after the ex and were in an unbelievable state(but airworthy!)riddled with damp green mould on ext paintwork and the smell in the the cabin was like a seaside b and b.and this is what the brown jobs had been flying in!afterwards i cant exactly remember when these tens ended up either parked at abingdon (waiting for conversion contracts to be signed),some were over the bampton side of brize either as fire trainers or just scrapped.
