I bid up to £400, and forgot about the end of the auction. I did win the VC10 time of flight clock earlier today- the consolation prize

That's not a bad result Bill! Those clocks are very nice!
My guess for the eventual selling price was actually a bit higher still but I'm sure that the seller will be happy with this. If there would have been a registration positively linked to the column, the price would surely have gone up further.

£693 not bad. If GJD fancy putting some parts from 147 on ebay there'll be enough money for a hanger for 241 in no time!

I must admit that it went for a lot less then I thought it was going to but its still a tidy some.
Makes me wonder what my VC10 stuff is worth but I could never sell any of it as it all means something to me.

If I'd remembered the ending of the auction, I'd have gone up to £800 or so. These things are very rare are will become rarer still in years to come. I doubt the winning bidder will ever lose money on it, should he or she choose to sell. The cost of ownership should be very modest indeed, especially if it's exact aircraft of origin, and therefore provenance, can be determined.
