Hi Tonks,

I've got a small bit about it here: http://www.vc10.net/History/bitsandpiec ... VC_/_ZA144
And the comment with the Airliners.net photo that I've linked to on that page states:
...is used by the RAF Forward Support (Fixed Wing) crash recovery unit at St Athan to provide instruction in battle damage repair (now known to the RAF as Contingent Repair), for which purpose they trailer it round to remote locations.
That's all I know, it could be wrong but it sounds allright to me :)

Poor old ZA144! On 31 Aug 2000, I flew her final trip from Brize to the knackers' yard at St Athan with 'Dan Winterland' in the RHS.... Just a 20 min hop.

Yet only a month earlier I'd flown a flypast at the Farnborough Air Show in her.
