From Classic Air Force on Facebook
Exciting news.... On Wednesday August 28 the Classic Air Force is receiving a Vickers VC10! The aircraft (ZA148) will be arriving from RAF Brize Norton at the end of its last flight and will go on display at the CAF hangar. Don't miss this chance to see her land for the final time

Absolutely. Does that mean there'll only be one into Brunty next month?

Nope, that still leaves ZA147 and ZA150...

It does mean though that all being well 3 of the 4 marks will have been preserved, which will be great news. Good effort from all involved! 8)

All assuming 147 doesn't retire with the penguins.

As I said, I'd be very surprised to see that happen.

I think there may be a good environmental argument against that happening :o

Lets face it, if frames corrode too well here what chance do they have in FI

There is a rumour on the web that either 147 or 150 will end up at the North Atlantic Aviation Museum in Gander, Canada. I haven't been able to verify this with a reliable source yet, so no idea if there is any truth to it.

A good friend of mine attended the BAC 1-11 anniversary gathering at Brooklands today. He just sent me a message, and reports the boss at Newquay was there, and that he announced that ZA148 is due there on 28th August for preservation.

Short notice perhaps, but the fact another airplane has been saved is to be applauded by us all.

Quite where that leaves the other two and the plans in September remains to be seen.
