ZA150 - Dunsfold 13 December - Now with Pics

Today, with the aid of ground support equipment from Virgin Atlantic Airways & British Airways, we fired up the Conway's
in a demonstration for the Brooklands Museum trustees and their parliamentary guests. The run lasted several minutes and all the flying controls were functioned through their full range.
Later we started two engines and rolled her forward a few yards to rotate the tyres. We would have taken her down the runway but McLaren had it booked for sports car testing
.
All that remains now is to get the APU to work.

Could you not have had a "Race you to the end of the runway!" competition with McLaren? The trick is to get in front of the sports car and let the Conways blow it off the runway

I think the McLaren has us on initial acceleration. Apart from that, I'm not keen on repeating the Victor incident. The A281 is at the end of the runway

Thanks Jelle.
Now if there any APU experts please pm me. It ASD's between self-sustaining speed & governed speed.

Not from me I'm afraid Mike. I was in the cockpit as part of the team that made it happen.
There was a plan to get Chris Orlebar down there to video it but the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle, ground equipment wise, didn't fall into place until late on Thursday.

Great stuff! =D>
Just out of interest, how much fuel was burnt during that engine run?

To be honest I didn't notice, we just pleased everything had come together at last minute to enable the run to be carried out.

I would hope the RAF delivered her with some juice left in the tanks
