I was wandering if there is any chance of getting close to the AC on these open days? As I will be along with my father who flew GM in its civilian guise from new till he tranfered to 747s, his last trip as P1 on 'GM being october '76 and hes quiet curious to see it as it is now.

At the last open day I spent most of my time inside XR808 so I am not sure what access is allowed to the aircraft before the taxi runs. However some of them were open for visitors later on, I was able to have a tour around the nimrod a she was parked next to us on the same pan.

It is our aim to have GM/241 running on the day but I don't know where she will fit into the programme and what the plans are for opening her up to the public are as yet.

A good number of the aircraft are opened up to visitors to see inside either before or after their taxi run. My guess is the VC10 will be opened as its the new attraction and likely have a number of willing supporters volunteering to man her and show people round. But you won't know for sure until the day. You will most definitely get very close, even if getting on board is not possible.

I'm hoping to get down on the 25th. What are the photo opportunities like, please?

I'd particularly be interested in some head-on shots of 241, if possible.

Cheers.

Your best chance will be during the taxi run. The rest of the time the aircraft are normally parked very close to each other and have people walking amongst them all of the time. A head shot should be possible though as the aircraft pulls out onto the runway for its run, you'll have to be quick though.

I am sure we will be able to park her on one of the pans near the others after her taxi run.

Cheers m'dears.

I seem to remember some head-ons of the Victor with parachute activated from a couple of years back. I guess that'll be 'privileged' access. It's particularly an engine running, smoke belching head-on (or as close to) that I'm after.

I can do quick. :-)////)

Think there is a Travelodge near Lutterworth just off the M1, and some B&B's dotted around.

Got a nose on shot today but no engine smoke or movement, just a hole where there should be a refuelling pipe!
