I like the bit where the narrator says "a crowd had formed" and the camera pans to show 6 people

Yes, when you're travelling in these countries like Africa, The Middle East etc you think you are completely alone. Until you stop that is, and then suddenly out of nowhere you are surrounded by kids usually. One can't say they come out of the woodwork because of all the termites!

The US team apparently thought they were making a car!
I remember the full episode they did get it to fly in the end. It was odd how the French and US made essentially replica vintage aeroplanes whereas the Brits actually designed and built the best flying machine they could with the materials available and it performed so much better than the other two.
