50th Anniversary

Post by Chris K »

Unfortunately, there will be no flypast at Brooklands for the anniversary celebrations on 29 June: "We have now heard that a flypast by 101 Squadron will not be possible due to operational issues" (http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/index.p ... c10-at-50/)

XR808 will get some special tail art for the anniversary. According to http://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/v ... 87&t=59366 , the design is currently being applied to the aircraft, so I guess, we will see it soon.

First picture has appeared on Facebook. I won't steal the photo to post here, but 101's Association page is an open group:

I'm going to the VC10 at 50 Event at Brooklands, tomorrow, 29th June, as I was able to get a late ticket.

Are any other from here going too?

Best regards.

Sadly not... I did go to the 101 Sqn Dinner there last night though, which was a fabulous celebration of both 95 years of the Sqn and 50 years of the VC10... TOP Night!!! Many many thanks to those who organised it it was just excellent.

Nice to catch up with you again Jelle :D

Same here Tonks! Hope the Chaplain's blessing came true and you survived the bus trip!

The event today was great, talks by designers, pilots, engineers, cabin crew and others about this great, 50 years old but timeless design! I managed to put faces to quite a few names today but I'm already struggling to remember them all :?

Hi Jelle

I was at the Brooklands VC10 50th day too. So many people in the marquee I didn't see you or I would have said hell.

Best.

Has BoB been the subject of a HDU pod replacement recently?

hi jelle, yes the 50th event at brooklands was fantastic,i so hope some kind of event can be organised just before her last flight..it would be great if something could be organised at brize?..i wonder if forming a club or something might add a little more weight for an organised tour of brize before she flies for the last time?..any news on vc10 shed pics? ..was great to meet you at brooklands,i was so taken with christopher Orlebar ,what a fantastic man.I know Robin and his team at brooklands put in some pretty hefty time and effort getting victor mike ready for the 50th and she looked superb inside with her split cabin, military and civil layouts, and the exhibition on board, any vc10 fans must get over to brooklands to see the vc10 exhibition, its a must..
