FAO All
Ref BOB's arrival, if you want to come to Brunty and watch the last landing of a C mk 1 you will be welcome on the airfield at the museum end.
Let hope the the weather is good, or she will come on Tuesday!

Thanks Gary that's very kind of you! =D>

When you say good weather... what dictates good enough weather for the VC-10 to come in? That way I can keep an eye on the forecast before setting out at silly o-clock on Monday! I might just research some cheap B&B's too, just incase [-o<

Never had a GE's wallet. It was always empty when I got back but I always had a smile on my face :-)

I need to rearrange an appointment with the doctor but I will be there.

Hoping to bring my dad too, his last flight on 808 was as an instructor with 241 OCU Brize Norton, on May 25th 1976, flying from Prestwick to Bentwaters.

This is going to be a great send off for Bob and the crew, news of the NOTAM is spreading on other aviation forums too so there should be a good number of people there.

Rats... I'd really like to be there, and I'm actually in the UK at the moment, but driving three and a half hours down there when we've got other things planned already is a bit too much for us. Please take loads of photos guys!

I was just checking Dads log books, he first flew BOB on March 31st 1967, and last flew it on Nov 22nd 1973, I doubt he thought it would still be around nearly 40 years later.

OK so I'm slightly confused (nothing new there!)

What exactly is the current state of play regarding which VC10 will survive and which will not? As I understand it there were talks about preserving another C Mk. 1, XV106 or XV108, 'live' if I remember rightly. Will both of these aircraft now be scrapped? How many 'live' VC10's will remain at Bruntingthorpe once all the scrapping is over and done with? Any ideas of what is to become of the RAF's spare parts for the 10? If that's confidential please ignore.

Also is there nowhere else interested in taking any of the remaining aircraft, I'm thinking perhaps of the same places that maintain Nimrods among others. Or are all the VC10 'eggs' all in the same basket? (Bruntingthorpe) Very dodgy if the site is ever re developed into a housing estate or similar.

I look forward to reading your replies.

What is the general consensus on time to be at Bruntingthorpe by?

Only ever been there once before doing a photoshoot for a car magazine some years ago and I wasn't driving so I'm not sure exactly where I am going when I get there, any help would be appreciated.
