A sad day yesterday, but a very enjoyable one nonetheless. Many thanks to all who made it possible, including the crew who kindly hung around signing the books they were giving away (result!) posiing for photos and answering all sorts of questions. I was meant to leave to pick the kids up at 2, but managed to talk a friend into picking them up, i finally got home around 8!!!
Anyway, some pics of the end of the flying career of one of Britains finest achievements:

Nice shots =D>
I notice the Vickers badges are missing from the centres of the control columns...............I wonder how many of them will be appearing on ebay

I asked about them when I was talking to the crew onboard ZA147 at the Enthusiasts day as they were missing already. I was told they had been already been auctioned off.petet16 wrote:Nice shots =D>

They raised several thousands of pounds for charity! (RAFBF) Sadly they were well out of my price range. I have a nice control wheel but sadly will never get a badge for it. Hey ho...

I was toying with the idea of trying to strap the tail off of XV106 onto the roof of my wife's mini on weds, i'm sure no-one would have noticed
Anyway, one last pic from me that i was messing around with earlier:

I always fancied one of the control column badges, when I was at Brize I couldn't nick one as the missing badge would create a fod hazard when it was noticed , and they were removed before delivery to St Athan, the metal adhesive Rolls Royce badges that used to be carried on the nacelles were no problem, they could be ordered through stores
