ZA150 Update
As things have been a bit quiet on the 150 recently here is an update.
There was an engine run carried out a couple of weeks ago with no problems encountered, with the engines or the APU, and the plan is to do a high speed taxi in both directions captained by Flt Lt Shane Stieger, one of the pilots that brought 150 into Dunsfold, on both days of Wing & Wheels (23/24 August) thereafter she will be open to the public for the rest of the day.
Brooklands Museum have up to now this year been distracted by motoring events and a lottery funding bid so unfortunately 150 went on the back burner, but they are now looking at long term plans for her and making her accessible to the public.

The Maintenance Team
L to R: Myself (BCAL/Air Malawi VC10's), Bob Cooper (was with EAA when she was 5H-MOG, BUA/BCAL & Air Malawi VC10's), John Brininger (BOAC/BA VC10's), Paul Sternberger, Barry Audsley (BOAC/BA VC10's)
Below is Bob & Barry with our newest member of the team - Martin Giles. He has us joined to learn what its is like working on a REAL aeroplane rather than a plastic A320.

Re: ZA150 Update
Did a bit of trouble shooting on the inoperative 'B' system flaps this week. Traced the trouble to the Isolation Valve being open circuit. Just got to find a replacement now.

Re: ZA150 Update
About 3 weeks ago '150 was used for filming part of a Natwest Bank TV advert. Tonight I saw the finished ad. All in all about 8Hrs work for the film crew at Dunsfold for about 10 secs - if that - on screen. You will note 150 has had a few mods done to her, but she still has the Mk32 pod fitted!

The wonders of CGI... It would've been nice if they hadn't redesigned the aircraft and they should have resurrected East African Airways instead of having a generic livery

They could have gone to Duxford and filmed the real thing!

Re: ZA150 Update
Why? They would have still butchered the image and removed the BOAC scheme -or they could have CGI'd the whole thingvololiberista wrote:They could have gone to Duxford and filmed the real thing!
