Well, this is what everyone has been asking for, for more airframes to be saved, so great news!

Nobody has confirmed it though (?), but this outfit is all about flyers and ground runners. Reading between the lines though, 'Golf' won't be kept as a ground runner?

But at least it will be preserved as an airframe :)

Exciting news.... On Wednesday August 28 the Classic Air Force is receiving a Vickers VC10! The aircraft (ZA148) will be arriving from RAF Brize Norton at the end of its last flight and will go on display at the CAF hangar. Don't miss this chance to see her land for the final time
And in a hangar. Fabulous news!

Official word from CAF today...

"Museum is usually open from 10am, but may be open slightly earlier next Wednesday. Discussed timings with 101 Squadron this afternoon and they will be released publically soon!"

Now on their website...

28th August... "Vickers VC10 ZA148 arrives at Newquay to join the collection. Planned ETA is 10:40 and we're hoping for a fly-by before landing" Also on 28th... "Meteor T7 G-BWMF training flight".

Looks like runway 30 is mostly used there, with the CAF hangar on the Southside being a good spot for touchdown shots. The A3059 around the perimeter also looks good if landing from the East.

Be there or be square 8)

I'm going to be square. Newquay might be just a tad too far. :-({{|=

Well! How many thought this was realistic?

Just received a reply from the NAAM at Gander... "I am aware that there has been a discussion with members of our Board of Directors about an RAF VC-10 aircraft. To my knowledge, nothing has been confirmed either way. I will give you an update when information becomes available".

You never know then! Bit of fun... prediction, ZA147 to Cosford and ZA150 to Gander

OSD one month today and counting?

NAAM has a small display hangar with a Tiger Moth and Link trainer on display, outside there's a Canso PBY, Beech 18, and a Voodoo, A whole VC10 would swamp the site, plus the small issue of getting it down the Trans Canada highway from Gander airport to the museum site.

Yes, and no doubt a major part of the discussion... 'Can we actually do this'?!

New museum site at the airport? Not gonna happen is it?!

Welcome back forum!

Further official word from CAF at Newquay...

The VC-10 is expected at 10.30, with several approaches before landing at 11.01 - the closest we could get to 101 Sqn!

A water cannon salute will welcome the aircraft as she taxies into our compound.

"Unfortunately the RAF will be removing the engines from the aircraft".
