That was sold at auction just two weeks ago. Trubshaw's widow sold several items from his collection as she is moving to smaller accommodation. Apparently this person bought it and is now going for the profit. He also has some framed prints from the same auction on eBay.

Hi,

It was me who won the Tankard on ebay and very nice it is, a cracking bit of history.

Cheers,

Was it anyone from here that bought Brian's VC10 Trophy?

The bidding went absolutely crazy in the last few minutes from £25 up to the final price of £162.

Congratulations Mike! And thank you for preserving this little bit of VC10 history! Any chance of some photos for the site?

Edit: I had not seen that auction yet Helen, but I do wonder if that trophy was worth that amount. There must be quite a few around, I know that Brooklands62 has one.

I entered a bid of £140 in the last few seconds, so it wasn't me

That said, I would have been miffed if a great piece of VC10 memorabilia hadn't gone for a good price, bearing in mind the silly money people pay for Concorde related items...

I was well behind you with a bid of £76, really couldn't afford any more than that.

I think the auction particulars mentioned that it will be in support of the Trust again.

Did you see the flap/slat select lever listed a few weeks back? The bidding went up to £222 and still didn't hit the reserve price. I suspect the vendor was simply trying to ascertain it's value without having to queue up for some dreary daytime TV antiques show

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390692954402? ... 1423.l2649 (hope it's ok to attach the link!)

I always put my bid in during the last ten seconds of an auction to avoid shill bids, but by the time I clicked submit, I'd been overtaken #-o

Auction in aid of The Golden Lion Children's Trust which is the trust originally set up in 1973 by B.Cal passenger services staff.

I did see the flap lever and laughed! I did miss out on a marked VC10 spanner the other day for £7.50, was quite gutted about that!

Guilty again on the G-ARTA trophy, went higher than I expected but still worth it. For me it's great to get a good bonus over to a very worthy cause and also one of the lads at work who is ex Brize will end up with my original bit of ARTA. Having spent some time at the Aladdin's cave which was the BCal hangar in Gatwick before it got cleared out through work it's also a nice connection.

I'll get some pics taken tonight and get them online.

Cheers,

Mike
