In it they ask what model would you like them to produce. I have asked for a BOAC/BUA VC10

I wonder if this is a reflection of ones age and when the VC10 first made an impression on you?

BOAC Super VC10- the best looking jet in the best looking livery :D

My username gives away my age (the nearest I ever got to flying the VC10 was a scary flight on a Tarom Il-62 in the early 90s) but I was given a very old I-Spy book when I was very young, with the BOAC VC10 in it.

I always liked the later Gulf Air Golden Falcon colours, I think only a couple of their VC10's ever received the update to match GA's newly delivered Tri*.

I requested XR808 with the special tail because I find that particular VC10 visually pleasing and it's also not available to buy already nor can you purchase decals. You can buy most of the airliner schemes ready made or once again you can purchase the decals and the same goes for the tanker 10's, you can purchase the grey or the camouflage, I once saw a hemp coloured VC10 on eBay as well.

I have to admit I'm too lazy to build kits nowadays and I clicked on the Corgi, rather than Airfix, option. I did build a 1960s Airfix kit many years ago and as I remember, it's only really good as a model of the prototype. If they retooled it to a good standard (preferably in 1:72 scale) I might be tempted!

My request was for a 1/144 die cast model of the Super with the doors in the right place and the right size, with correct windows. I pointed out that although the MD of BOAC once suggested to Sir George Edwards that he should build 707s under licence at Weybridge instead of designing a new aircraft (true story!) it was no excuse to put Boeing windows on their model

I've split off the discussion about Vickers-built 707s into their own thread, see here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=875

As for Airfix models: I've asked for a BOAC or BUA one too, although I also like the idea of a Corgi BUA one in Blue and Sandstone as G-ASIX..... I may need to fill in the survey again I think!
