Popped over to E-Mids to have a look at where 108 has ended up...

Still a bit of work to be done to the surrounds... but they have great plans.

Interesting scab patch that 108 has gained above the centre windscreen, wonder what's the story with that.

Cheers Jazz...

As an a side, I will be doing a talk or two next year in 108 (on the VC10 etc). If anyone is interested I will post details nearer the time...

The "sibling" looks like G-APES, a lovely Vanguard nose. I find it rather sad that an Airframe never landed at EMA to be preserved, I`ve been currently working there for the past 12 years, The VC10`s forever doing circuits and bumps. I can`t believe nothing was ever negotiated, this country is so bad at nostalgia, seeing the decay at Brooklands just supports my case. The chance was also missed, incidentally, of preserving the whole of G-APES Airframe too, so sad. I know, I was there. . .

Are they going to get a probe on the front?

Tonk's VC10 talks are excellent - well worth a trip. :D

Cheers Charlie

The probe is back on already and the interior is looking good (one of the chaps sent me some pics).

Hi

That scab patch was done as a repair when a probe tip was snapped off (during refuel off the K4 if I remember correctly) and it bounced off the skin just above the centre windscreen. Made an impressive dent. The cockpit strip to get access was extensive.

Thanks for the background info re the patch, I thought it might be a probe tip, or basket that did the damage.
