i have been tied to cosford since 1977 when my dad joined the museum society. i rember the the vc10 ,707 ,bac 111, trident and brittania flying into the museum. the viscont was allready there it was the last one flying in ba colours . by road came a viking an ex cafe from france or belguim in channel colours.the comet 1 was ex raf from shawbury but in french colours ,also many vehiclies buses and tugs. a wooden 747 crew trainer also came.
lord King sent them to preserve civil aircraft history. the museum was independant a poor relation out station to hendon. no government cash just what it could beg or borrow. and ba spent cash there .
i have seen many changes in the management and ideals of hendons historeans and the latest forgets that military and civil aviation is hand in glove. when its gone its gone
