Gosh that would have need a very long selfy stick to get that photo! The cockpit must have been at least 50ft up in the air after the "defuelling incident!"
Hello Chris, I got a list from Ollie through a post on my Facebook page that has most of the RAF airframes listed but it is good to have some confirmation as mistakes are of course possible. I was hoping that you might be able to supply the code for ZA148 as that one's still 'missing' from my data...
Just to update this search, we have found out most codes thanks to previous posts in this thread and on Facebook but it seems that codes changed whenever an airframe changed hands (for example the EAA codes were different from the ones used by the RAF after conversion to VC10K3). So especially the codes for the early, non-BOAC operators are still proving elusive. If anyone has flying manuals from BUA/BCAL, Ghana or MEA then please shout out as they might be listed in those.
Thanks Paul! That adds a few more to my list. I'm still looking for a few odd ones though:
G-ARTA/OD-AFA
9G-ABP
G-ATDJ
XR809 / G-AXLR
ZD230
ZD235
ZD242
ZA148
If anyone wants a copy of the full list, just let me know.
