On the production page, VC-10 862 (ZD240) is listed as going for spares,
but I wonder if this is true. On <<www.aerpix.net>> and somewhere else
it is listed as still being in the fleet. Am I correct?

From all the information available to me I can conclude that ZD240 is still active with 101 Squadron. I had a look at the two pages in my site on which the 'status' of this airplane is listed and on both pages it is noted as such.
http://www.vc10.net/Data/vickers_vc10_prodnumbers.html
http://www.vc10.net/History/RAFVC10s.html

On the 'production numbers' page ZD239 in the line immediately above ZD240 is listed as 'S/P', meaning reduced to spare parts. The rightmost box for ZD240 is empty, with wich I meant to say 'still active'. I'm guessing you may have misread this. Still, thanks for the tip, I'm doing my best to keep everything in order and I may not be right every time!

Jelle.

ZD240 is most definately alive and well and still flying out of Brize Norton. 10 Sqn and 101 Sqn have now been merged to form 10/101(Eng)Sqn, which is currently one of the largest if not THE largest squadron the RAF have.

Hope this helps
