Il-62 requests for help and/or spying allegations

Lance Cole (Vickers VC10, Crowood Aviation Series, 2000) alleges (p. 71) that Ilyushin asked BAC for help in resolving VC10 problems. I have not seen this mentioned elsewhere in British (Flight International, Aircraft Engineering , Air Pictorial, et alia), Russian (too numerous to mention, but historian Yefim Grodon is typical of others), German, Czech or Polish sources. Does anyone know any more?

Also, an allegation of Soviet espionage is made in Scott Henderson (Silent Swift Superb: the Story of the Vickers VC10, Scoval, 1998) on p. 106. Henderson claims that a "Capt Leslie" of EAA had a VC10 flight manual stolen by the KGB on Friday 13 March 1963. Again, I have not been able to trace any other mentions of this (or indeed of a Capt George Lesley).

Any help most gratefully received and thanks in advance!

If the IL62 was the best copy the Russians could manage, the people responsible are probably still down the salt mines
