Tanks, tanks and more tanks!!!

It never seizes to amaze me how good design engineers are at making sure us techies end up with battered and bruised limbs

I have just spent the last two days in 3 tank pulling out vent pipes for the riggers. Now, any of you that know me will testify to me being of a slightly rotund build, (my last RAF assessors words, not mine and LSS, if you say a word I will require you to down at least 2 flaming filfars). The pipes in question run along the frwd face of the leading member.

Somehow the DEs had managed to put an FRS coupling the other side of rib 11 which will require you to get into 4 tank. After squeezing into the access panel you turn inboard and take the next right. After the next rib hang a left and there it is - just out of reach of Twizzle!!!!!!!!!!!! We do have a couple of weasles on the team but even they are sucking their teeth and pleading the 5th amendment #-o

This was where my naturally superior consultative powers came into play, the riggers were told if they want it out they will have to do it themselves [-o<

I have been around these kites for a long time but it keeps on tripping me up. Anyone got any other terror tales of bits, or places, to avoid?

Who me
Now would I say anything bad about an EX LSS techie ???

Still I know what you mean, even as a lecky I have spent hours in tanks stripping kit out for people. While on the VC10 storage flight at RAF Abingdon I got to know all the tanks on an intimate basis while de puddling all the tanks. My only fear was always the centre tank though. Don't think I could do it nowadays, too old me thinks... Careful LG no remarks remember I have jut been kind to you.

You can have a party in there  Us old LSS guys can give the young sprats a run for their money. 3 engine fits and 2 FCU changes in 2 days - peanuts. One night in Crazy Horse 2, now that's something I don't think I could do at my ripe old age. (Full pension next year) =P~
