Just heard a rumour that the old girl has been grounded due to NLG axle problems. Any truth in it?

Not heard anything, but the Gulf Air one that was at Brize also suffered a broken nlg axle, a bit of history repeating itself maybe.

Haven't heard anything about the fleet being grounded, either. XR808 and ZA147 were in the air today. I doubt they had sent 147 down to Oman, if there really were any serious issues affecting the whole fleet.

From what I can remember most of the bogies were replaced when we did the Minors/* the nose leg was removed/replaced at the same time so I was surprised when the guy mentioned it. I have noted from another thread here that the frames are still up so maybe they got it wrong. (However, going to Oman for a few days is a good excuse! Spent a year there with the RAFO, Seeb is a wonderful place)!!!!

ZA147 yesterday departed as Ascot 2314 which is an Oman type flight No. XR808 arrived back from Leuchars yesterday following its airshow appearance last weekend. They were the 1st VC10 movements since ZA148 was picked up as Esso44 in the Warzone on Saturday 15th Sept.........
