Does anyone know where apart from eBay where I can get some more additions to my collection?

I have a few bits and pieces myself, the largest being an overwing emergency exit, which I believe was taken from one of the Stored ex BA Super VC10s (the servicing markings from when it was reconditioned are from the early 90s). It has now been resprayed in BOAC colours. That was from a place called Rays Tek near Stoke.

I bought a VC10 radio station box (with a BOAC sticker on it) from the old gift shop at Duxford in 1996, back in the days when they sold some interesting stuff.

There is an aircraft reclaimation yard not far from me in Stafford. Until quite recently they had an RR Conway from a VC10. A snip at £2,200! Unfortunately I don't have a garage, otherwise I might have taken the plunge

GJD don't deal with joe public, not at the moment anyway, that's what I have been told.

Aircraft scrap yards are your best bet, Google it, I used to go to Roger Windley's in Lincolnshire when I was a kid, they're still going and have a few aviation bits as I put someone in touch with them the other week.

Also try aviation jumbles, Shoreham airport hold excellent ones, I picked up a titanium Harrier turbine blade from there

Maybe contact a couple of museums too, Duxford may have something they are willing to sell, you never know until you ask!

The RAF will no doubt be disposing of all of it's VC10 spares, they may end up as lots in a military surplus auction.

Someone, no idea who, sold BOB's pitot tube on eBay before he was retired to Brunty, it went for £80 I think. The location was marked as "Carterton" and the user ID was very "non raf" sounding.

It's worth keeping an eye on Bonhams, Christies and Southeby's as they do have aviation lots every now and then, a few weeks ago Bonhams had a nice mixed lot of BOAC memorabilia. I didn't win it but it still went for a reasonable price.

That doesn't sound good, VC10boy. May I ask, was it you who acquired some parts of G-ARVM's tail? I guess that scrappers work to deadlines and don't have time to neatly remove parts to order, which is a pity. I suppose the best thing is to wait until the RAF clears out its storerooms...

Rays Tek had two overwing exits listed on Fleabay, but I just drove up and bought it. I guessed both were from Brize Norton or St Athan. Both had been resprayed with the yellow anti-corrosion paint. The one I bought was more complete, with both inner and outer window panels, and the release mechanism intact. I think they have a couple of ventral hold cargo doors left, but the chap at the warehouse didn't say if he was expecting anything else.

The engines at Hixon Airfield were listed as being ex Brize Norton. If ever you're travelling south through Stafford on the West Coast Main Line, and see several Hercules, minus wings, which appear to be sitting in a field, that's the place.

I expect if you ho through tge correct channels and paid the appropriate price you might be able

That's a difficult question, Andy. In a way, they are priceless, in another, worthless. Apart from the bits the RAF may have kept (refuelling pods and equipment, APU, any modern avionics and those hen's teeth yoke badges) there is very little that can be re-used. I suppose it is the time and labour costs of recovering the "wanted" items and storing them until a buyer comes along, as opposed to reducing everything to bite sized potential lager cans.

I suppose that if potential suppliers of such items identify a demand, then something may result.

Here's my "shopping list", in case Gary sees this thread and cares to name a price :

Flight engineer's throttle lever assembly (indeed the whole F/E desk, if one is going spare!)

Flight engineer's instrument panel (hydraulic systems).

An engine air intake rim (I have a large garden wall in need of a conversation piece!)

The overhead instrument panel showing the control surface positions.

Autopilot panel.

That's the thing Bill I don't really know what I would like..... One if everything!!

To be honest I'm happy with any kind if instruments from the cockpit.

A complete seat belt and buckle.

And maybe some articles from the galley.
