These questions are about the interaction between the Wing Actuator Switches - MIs - and the Wing Temperature gauge.
1. Am I correct in thinking that if the WA Switches are shut and the MIs are X-lined then the wing temperature gauge will show the temperature without any influence from any hot air in the duct?
2. During a hot start procedure do the MI's go inline automatically or is it necessary to manually open the wing actuator switches?
3. If the MIs go inline automatically then I presume that hot air from the duct is being fed to the wing(s) and therefore reflected by the temperature gauge.

1. The wing temperature bulbs are d/steam of the stop valves so the gauges will reflect the duct ambient temperature
2. Not sure what a hot start has to do with anti-ice system
3. Very little is automatic on the '10. Don't forget this is mid/late 1950's technology and why there is an FE.

No.1. I had sussed as the temperature gauges in question (whilst visiting Brooklands) had a much higher reading than the actual ambient air temperature.
No.2. In the manuel it says that when the Top Temperature switches are set to Isolate that the wing stop valves are open (presumable to help dissipate the hot air). What it doesn't say though is whether the valves are opened automatically.
No.3 You might say the 10 is mid/late 1950's technology but it was pretty advanced stuff for its day!

The only Top Temperature Control I know of is on the engine to keep the EGT below 595 degs.
Please can you give more information to put what you have read into context.
