I was in a VC10 'incident' that is not mentioned. I cannot remember the year. I thought it was early 80s, but must have been late 70s. I was flying from the Gulf to London, via Beirut that had just reopened - although half the airport building had burned down during the war. We were in a VC10 to our surprise as we though they were no longer in use by BA. At Beirut the rear steps were moved away and the driver attempted to go under the wing. The handrails at the top of the steps rammed at least a foot into the rear of the wing causing extensive damage. It really rocked the aircraft. In fact the Captain asked to borrow a camera to photograph the damage. After an hour or two we continued to London on an MEA plane. The VC10 was so badly damaged I imagined it would be a write off, but have seen nothing about it.
