I was a passenger on G-ASGB on 1966-09-20. It was my first flight. My memories are vague but BOAC gave each child a log book and lapel pin, which I still have.

During my RAF tour in Singapore in the mid-60s, I often watched the BOAC VC10 late night departure from Singapore. It was nicknamed "The Moonlighter" in the local promotional advertising. Always looked impressive bearing the large Speedbird logo in reflective gold on the tailfin and equally bold "BOAC" in gold just behind the cockpit, both against a dark blue background. Eventually flew home in the RAF Super VC10 from Changi to Lyneham on repatriation.

My father, Ron Smith, was on the Board of BOAC and my mother and I (aged 18) accompanied him on the first jet service from London to Lusaka on the VC-10 - I think the date was 31 July 1964. I have a press clipping that explains, "The runway at Lusaka is too short for the big American jets but the VC10 can take off and land comfortably there."

Flew the VC-10 many times on East African Airways and BOAC from LHR to Nairobi back in the 1970's. Lovely plane and very quiet. Also lost my junior jet club book too! Remember visiting the pilots in the cockpit and reinforced my ambitions to be a pilot. However I design aircraft for a living instead these days! Thanks for the website!

Worked for the Qatar Amiri Flight for 6 years when we operated G-ARVJ in Gulf Air colours Capt John Willett was the Flight Manager, very happy times.

Great! My affection for the Vc10 started in the 1960s when we lived in Nigeria. It was my carriage home & also the aircraft we were evacuated on following a coup. I hugely regret that my ‘ BOAC Junior jet club’ book was lost years ago.
Last VC10 I went on was years later , East African’ from UK to Nairobi & back.
