I thank you for your website, and most especially the tribute paid to my father, Capt Rufus A. Orimoloye (GBenga I see you beat me to this guestbook ;) ) Thank you for your excellent work, attention to detail, and tributation.
Great site - Many fond memories of this fantastic aircraft: My dad was an engineer at Vickers Weybridge, I lived at the end of the runway and vividly remeber the first flight with all local roads closed. Spent many hours after school at Wisley where I must have sat in the pilot seat of most VC10's - can't imagine it happening today. I will be a regular visitor.=)
Flew as co-pilot/navigator and captain in BOAC/BA from 1965 to 1980 .Delivered G.ASGK to Prestwick for storage on May 22nd 1980. Great site for a great aerolane=)
As an ex-RAF ground engineer it was the best job I have ever had in my life!(1977-1982).Finding your website has brought back many happy memories of the finest aircraft ever built.
Great memeories!! I flew as an air steward in the early from Jan 70 to approx mid 75 on the VC10 fleet, it was a very popular a/c on the North Atlantic. I've never experienced such soft landings on any a/c since those days.
Hope they manage to save all or part of 'my' a/c GP currently with the RAF.
Have asked Corgi if they are to issue a Super VC10 model. Reply from Micheala Staples of Customer Services was: 'Thank you for your email and I have passed this onto our Product Development Team for their consideration in the future'. I have asked this question before with similar answer. So can everyone who visits this web site visit the Corgi website and ask the same question, then we may get the Super VC10 back in production so to speak. =)
Great site. Did my flight planning training on VC10s with BA so the perf.manual brought back memories of nights on planning probs followed by the bar to recuperate.Did VSO in Peru in 1987 flying down on SVC10 'SGB and returning via Santiago and BUA on VC10 'TDJ to Gatwick.Later in Bogota on relief duty accompanied Mr Howe on 10 Sqdn C1 XV106 to Cartagena on official visit.Lovely aeroplane - as used by Mrs Thatcher if I remember.Obviously not at the same time as Mr. H. Renew my affair weekly on the Brooklands VC10 as a volunteer. Come and see her sometime - still a beauty . Bill Dempster
