What a fantastic site. I "served my time" at weybridge in the 50's and worked on a number of jigs and fixtures for this fine aircraft. In later years I shared an office with Dave Wanstall. Dave was the chap who took that fine photo of G-ARTA's first flight from Brooklands. This photo appears in many a books and his accredetation is usually acknowledged. All power to your elbow!
I just received an e-mail from a friend referring me to this great site. I was cabin crew on the "TENS" from Dec 67 until Apr 72. I have just retired from BA after 42 years with them, (40 as cabin crew!) They really were good old days & this site has brought back many fond memories. I'll be passing it on to other colleagues.
I was a 10 std for several years in the sixties....ah wonderful memories. It was indead a golden era - a part of my life that was very special-thanks for the great site-I will continue to veiw..
Just browsing and looking for entries for my father, Bill Cairns, who was on the first flight with Jock Bryce and Brian Trubshaw. Brought back memories of standing and watching it take off from Brooklands - quite beautiful and totally awesome.
As an ex RAF TASF SAC Airframe it is nostalgia to see one of the nicest birds ever built. I used to Turn It Round at RAF Luqa. Today I am a Captain on a Lear60. But, I still miss (at 59)my Line at the Air Force Days, wish to be there.
