When I was ten years old my uncle bought me a great little pocket book called "Flying the VC10" from the bookshop in Heathrow airport. I loved reading over and over again. I wish I still had the book. I would gladly buy it again if someone new where I could get it. I don't know the Author's name or anything about who or where it was printed. I've googled it, searched high and low but can't find a copy.
Please can anyone help?

Re: Books
Funnily enough there were two on ebay the other day... I will have a quick look and see if they are still on. It does come up every now and then and it is a good little read...

Re: Books
Thanks to a kind soul I do have a photocopy of that book but I wouldn't mind an original so I've placed a bid on the second listing. Thanks for the tip Tonks!
Speedwings, let me know if you'll also be bidding on one of these listings, there's no need to battle each other over it.

Re: Books
I'm very happy to say that the wonderful little book arrived in the post this morning. It's in excellent condition and exactly as I remembered it, perhaps a little thinner!
I have been flying the VC10 regularly for some time now with Flight Simulator 2004. I've been using David Chester's model from Addictive Simulations. I have also downloaded David Maltby's from Flightsim.com but the auto throttle won't go over 180knots!
Thank you all for your help in finding "Flying the VC10" for me.

Re: Books
Good to hear that you got what you were looking for!
Bear in mind that the autothrottle isn't supposed to go any higher than 180 knots as it is meant to be used for the approach phase only. David Maltby's model is a lot better in details like this. Have a look at David Maltby's site for more about his model: http://www.dmflightsim.co.ukI have also downloaded David Maltby's from Flightsim.com but the auto throttle won't go over 180knots!

Re: Books
Thank you for the advice.
I have read that the other one (VC10 by David Chester) is to have an update. Here are the details;
A more realistic High Fidelity (ie. harder!) autopilot will be available shortly as a free download for those who desire accuracy in detail. This will include the IAS and Mach Climb modes which were used in the real VC10 but does away with the climb rate and IAS speed settings. It is your choice which version you use.
