Does anyone else remember the old style perimeter fences at Heathrow?
I recall how back in the early seventies, when I was maybe 11 or 12 ,being able to sit on the top beam
of them, right beside the runway(or so it seemed) and my stomach literally churning as B.A,E.A.A and Gulf Air vc10s wound up the revs prior to brake release.
Happy days.
Now as soon as you stop to check whats taking off,the police are giving you the third degree.
Cheers al-quieda and the other idiots of whatever cause you support, it would of been nice to take my lads up to the 'Row and get them interested in what their "old man"did as a kid!

I used to do the same when I was a kid. You could go around to the hangars and sit on the mound behind the aircraft when they were being worked on.
Never had a GE's wallet. It was always empty when I got back but I always had a smile on my face
