forward seating compartment on the dedicated tankers
ive never seen any pics of the forward seating sections on any of the dedicated tanker conversion types?..just a thought but has anyone got any pics of this section?..and also when did the raf fit the later kind of seats..on earlier pics the seats seem to have some huge head rests with side walls..a kind of NHS wheel chiar contraption?.also on the civil aircraft is the light blue ceilings a thing that they had from new?,i note garvm has this at brooklands but on the recent pics [circa late 60,s with overhead bins retro fitted]posted on this site the same aircraft appears to have an all white interior?,,

I haven't got any pictures of the fwd compartment.
But we used to change the layout fairly frequently depending on requirements, I seem to recall the seats that were fitted on delivery from Filton were old Britannia seats but don't hold me to that, the first 3 as you entered were old first class seats with a wooden carrier for the crew chutes.

I've definitely got recent photos of both the K4 and K3's... I don't have any K2 interior pictures though. I'll post them up when I can find them on the computer!vc10boy wrote:just had a look at an RAF Britannia interior and i think you might be right, fancy ordering brand new jets then putting old seats in them, well, ive never herd of that before?. link.. http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=747605

Re: forward seating compartment on the dedicated tankers
that would be great,,intresting to note first class seats used on the first row..wonder if they where taken from the East African Airways interiors?..also i noticed on the web the british airways boing 707 that used to sit next to GARVM at cosford, her forward cabin went to the museum of scotland and they totally revamped her back to BOAC colours, they even got the black and white checked seat covers made to BOAC SPEC..SEATS THAT FIRST WENT INTO boac SUPERS FROM NEW and retro fitted to there 707,s..wish they,d do that at Duxford as its so much better than that BA interior of the 1970,s.
that replaced the classy BOAC interior

Apologies for not posting anything up!
I've checked my pictures, unfortunately it was at midnight and they haven't come out very well, so I will take some more today and (hopefully!) remember to post them up for you tomorrow.
