Having served at Brize I can even see them being scrapped AT the station as we did in the 80's with the rows of ex BA tens we had there in sticky bags! There has always been plenty of room at the end of runway 27 with the old 53/115 squadron pans all now empty. Cameras at the ready!

OK heard on the news yesterday that Saints (RAF Saint Athan) is finished! This will actaully be a blessing as it means any 10's being scrapped will now be in ENGLAND and easier to view and photograph instead of millions of miles away in the valleys!

This was a year ago, so downsizing is not new:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/3662526.stm, but the latest on the DARA Website is a bit less promising: http://www.daranet.co.uk/default.asp?id=31&urn=415.
Shame about the jobs lost. Seems that more and more RAF support tasks are going on the market to the highest bidder.

Sorry, Murray but the 10s will continue here for the foreseeable future. Javelin Red and Amber are well on their way now, with Green hopefully following next year.
They appear to be market testing the contract to see if there is any interest outside but we have been told by our board, (if you can believe any board in industry), that VC 10 will continue in Twin Peaks after the Spring of 2007.
Anyway, with VC 10s being up here it gives you an opportunity to get out and breath in the clean air up here. We are not all steel works and coal mines now, you know

Never had a GE's wallet. It was always empty when I got back but I always had a smile on my face
