Sadly I arrived as they were packing away - only the VC10s and Nimrod were left on the runway; but to be honest I was only there to see the VC10s anyway
It was fascinating to see, but sad. But everything seemed, how can I put it, dignified. In the Mojave desert, I gather they use JCBs and the like to simply smash old aeroplanes to pieces. This was far tidier, with the aircraft being carefully dismantled, which was some consolation. I acquired a very neatly cut out section (from the cargo door), thanks to Gary, which I will take very good care of.
