Vickers Factory at Weybridge

Post by Speedbird »

I am in the process of making scenery for Flight Simulator 2004 of the Vickers factory at Brooklands. I have used information from VC10 videos and several VC10 books to try and reproduce Brooklands in the 1960's. Can anyone help me with photos, plans, maps etc.

Someone was trying to do this over on the Classic British Flight Sim Forum, perhaps it is worth a look: http://www.cbfsim.org/cbfsimv5/cbfsbb/
If you search the forum for 'Brooklands Scenery' that should turn up something (use the forum search, not the Google box on that page!).

This is from that site:

Also there are some Brooklands scenery files on Avsim, by John McKeon, they might be worth a look.

I've got one image that might be of use, but I'll need to find it first.

Thanks Jelle,
I will check it out. John McKeon already sent me some photos and a map.

Found it:

It is from a 'Visitor's handbook' issued by BAC Weybridge in 1964.

Hi Jelle,
That's brilliant. Now I know that I am on the right track with the layout. Thank you. Hopefully someone will come up with some photos of the different buildings.

Unfortunately speedbird somone has beaten you to it! There is not only scenery for Brooklands but also marvellous accurate scenery for Wisley! I cant remember who did it but its very good, theres even a railway running past the track with a train that goes past every 5 or so minutes! Its David someone I think - please credit him if you find and use any of his airfields.

I am also a member of the classic british flight sim site and an amateur scenery designer of flight sim airports and aircraft liveries.

Good luck though I'm sure it wont hurt to 're-invent' it again! :D
