During my rambles through the net (I'm trying to find phots of the Hydraulic panel (without success :-( )) I have come across this site which has a more in depth explanation of the accident. The crew clearly did the wrong thing, it would appear. My training in a bounce situation was to continue to hold the nose up at the flare attitude and let the a/c settle by itself.

That is a great find! It looks like he has access to the accident report, I wouldn't mind a copy.... I'll see if I can e-mail him.

As for bounced landings, I've been taught the same. The only alternative is apply full throttle and try again.
Buttons . . . check. Dials . . . check. Switches . . . check. Little
colored lights . . . check.
