ZA147 RETURN TO UK
Morning to you all I've been busy for a while so have not been able to post any news, also forgot my login details.
I'm not 100% sure on this but ZA147 could be due back to the UK sometime next week, as a tristar was flown down south this week so informed by a sqn member today.
if i can find out any more info i will post it on the site.
Long live the Queen of the Skies wherever they will be displayed

Re: ZA147 RETURN TO UK
Thanks for the info Spike.
Despite the rumours it'll be good to have 147 back. Somewhere a bit 'different', but i really didn't want to trek all the way down there to see it (because i would have)!

Confirmed - Tristar ZD951 went Brize Norton - Ascension on Friday.
Guess that means ZA147 is headed somewhere...but where ?

Re: ZA147 RETURN TO UK
Local press in Stanley reports that the handover is underway, a Falklands VC-10 farewell tour tomorrow with the airframe returning to the UK early September. Make of that what you will...

Further to this, apparently 147 diverted into Sao Paulo after leaving MPA.
As of today she still hasn't returned to Brize. Make of that what you will...

Re: ZA147 RETURN TO UK
The Sao Paulo info was apparently duff gen - an informed source tells me 147 was still at MPA on Friday. The local news reports it did a farewell fly-by on Friday afternoon, and is due to head back on Monday.
This would tie up with Spikes info regarding arriving at BZZ Tuesday evening, assuming it night-stops in Acension. I will keep an eye out for further news.

Re: ZA147 RETURN TO UK
Should be good for one frame at the Families Day, anyone know which other aircraft are due to attend? Also what day the VC10 is likely to depart up to Leuchars? Cheers

Re: ZA147 RETURN TO UK
Hello guys,
Could I just remind everyone that posting about expected flights on an open forum gets the RAF slightly nervous sometimes? We're getting details again which are just too specific. This would be fine if we were discussing Easyjet but the RAF has a somewhat different task and we may be jeopardising this. I know it sounds odd as the VC10 is so close to retirement but the job it's doing remains important and may be sensitive at times.
I know that it enables us enthusiasts to see the VC10 now that the opportunities are so slim, but please keep the specifics away from the public forum. You can of course use PMs or e-mail.
Sorry to be a spoilsport but I have to ask for your cooperation in this. Thanks!
